Beauty Contest Advertising

Basic Rules
As unfair as it sounds, your friends are not allowed to advertise for you. What they can do is vote for you though. Another annoying thing about this competition can be the fact that you are not able to see the amount of votes you have until after the contest. This means that if your 200 votes ahead of all the competition, you still would have to keep advertising since you have no way of knowing if you're winning or not. Also, bear in mind that the more popular the species of pet that your image is for is, the smaller is your chance. And last but not least, if you use the lab ray or morph your pet and it changes species during the contest your votes will not be counted. Everyone can vote only once per species.

The Beauty Contest Board
Obviously, it would be the most basic way of advertising to go to the Beauty Contest board. This board used to be very clean, but lately it has mutanated to the n00b infested boards much like most of the Neoboards. However, it' s still smart to post a thread here about 5 times a day. Never have more than 1 thread on the first 5 pages though! Also, try to go to at least 20 threads on here each day, especially the "vote for me and I'll vote for you" kind of threads. Cheap, I know. But that's life, and if you want fast votes that's were you get to go. The BC board will become your second home. Try to spend at least half an hour there every day of pure advertising. The more the better.

Other boards
Put a link to your BC entry in your forum signature and then start chatting like mad on some of the boards. The one I have personally found most useful for this kind of thing is the Quest board. Why? Well, simply offer fast free quest help and as part of your post add a line like "While your waiting for me to find your item, please take the time to vote for *". Be polite and don't demand anything. This works pretty well ;). Also, just hang out at your usual favorite boards and add that short line to some of your posts. Of course, don't make any threads concerning your BC entry in the Battledome board for example, since that would be off topic and you could get into trouble for it.

Other advertising
This makes people mad sometimes, but other times it's a great advertising method. Basically, you interact with other neopians non-stop. Think about it: your shop history, the highscores of your favorite game, the auctions, the trading post... And so forth. After someone buys something from your shop, why not check out their lookup and see if they have anything in there against a polite neomail asking for a vote. Check if their pets have ever won the BC. If they have, chances are they know how hard it is to advertise and therefore will be more likely to spare you a vote than others. Someone who has "don't send me spam, invites, or random neomails of any sort" in their lookup isn't likely to vote for you.

Off-Neopets advertising
If you own a website or if your staff at one, you can also add a subtile link to your entry on your site. Don't make a big fat sign though; that would seem selfish and like you're trying to use your visitor to gain neopoints. A simple, "sorry I wasn't able to may more graphics, I was working so hard on this *link here* BC entry of my lovely wocky" does a lot better. Don't repeat that a bunch of times either. Just once, in the news, while announcing a new tutorial or whatever ;).

It can also be very helpful to add the link to your entry to any forum or the like that you may be apart of.
