Making Neofriends and Neomails

It's a cruel world out there...in neopets that is. You never know who's going to hack you, or try to scam you. How do you know who's a friend and who's a foe?

A Few Rules of A Neofriend
Ok, forget the long title, let's focus on the RULES. Let's just say that finding the perfect neofriend isn't easy. You have you to know what kind of friend you're looking for. Here are a few rules that I'd follow:

  • A neofriend is not someone that just randomly requests to be your neofriend. You actually have to had talked to them.
  • It can't be someone that leeches off of you. Leeching, meaning asking for stuff like avatar items.
  • Opposite, a definte no no. Don't ask your neofriend for stuff. I mean, hey, they could refuse and it's not their fault. Who's fault is it? hmmm...:D
  • A neofriend is someone that is always active. That doesn't mean 24/7 but that means at least 2 days a week.
  • Final rule: Neomails. They have neoboards for public uses but not for private chats. Use the most simple tool in neopets. Neomail. It's a fast and easy way to contact eachother.

    Using Neomail
Neomail is just as easy as using email, maybe even easier! On the yellow sidebar, there should be "neomail" on there. Click on "neomail." There should be small yellow buttons near the top of the page. If you haven't made any neofriends yet, or just don't have any neomail, there should be something in the center of the page that says, "You do not have any NeoMessages?in your 'Inbox' folder." One of the circular yellow buttons should say "send." Obviously, click the button to send a message to ANYONE except theneopetsteam. (They can't be sent messages.) Here's a little picture of how to send neomails ^^

Below should be a white box where you can type your message. It can be as LOOONGGG as you want but you can't send any HTML or CSS.

    Meeting Neofriends
What kinds of places do you think you would meet a neofriend? Neoboards isn't recommended because it's public and you are more likely to get scammed. I have made most of my neofriends by fanmail and by joining guilds. Fanmail? Well, if you work on a site (this one for instance) or make a cave of the week, you might get fan mail from people saying, "OMG I LOVE YOUR SITE!!! TELL ME HOW TO MAKE ONE CUZ IT'S SOOO COOL!" Give them advice? Of course! Don't want to disappoint a fan, do you? Once you get to know them better, you or the person should send a neofriend request! How do you send a neofriend request? You click neofriends and there should be blue links and one of them should be, 'Neofriend Requests & Add a Neofriend.' Cool! Now there should be a white box where you can type in a person's name and request to be their neofriend. Easy as that! However, when you get a request, tt should come up as an event in the corner of the page. You can choose to accept...or reject. When you accept, they will now show up on your neofriends list.

The neofriends button is at the top of the page. You have MANY options on that page. That includes deleting, searching, and making notes on them. When you've finished updating your neofriends, click the "Update Neofriends" button located at the top and bottom of your neofriends list.

    Sending Greeting Cards
Guess what? You can send greeting cards! They are a lot like e-cards except they are much easier to send. To send one yourself, click the 'Greeting' button. There should be many categories to choose from, that includes Friendship, and Sorry greeting cards! Choose and category and browse through the cards. Which one do you think would be best? Click the one that you like most and type in the info at the bottom. Your Name, Your Email, Address Their Name, as well as Their Email Address. You can also send a message, with a maximum of 1,000 characters. Done? You can preview your greeting or send it right away!

    Tips
Here are a few little tips that oughta help you deal with constant spam mail (neomails that are just junking up your inbox)

  • If you're getting a lot of spam mail, here's a way to stop it. Click the 'block' button located at the top of the page. There, you can type in the name of a user that you want to block and start getting neomails from.
  • If you want to block everyone from blocking you except for your neofriends, click the 'Only Allow Neofriends' button. If your page loaded properly, the page should show up with an Aisha saying, "Now only your Neofriends can contact you. If you wish to turn this feature off then click the button below." And yes, there should be a button below that says, "Allow Everybody"
  • If you get hatemail (A.k.a mail that is either insulting you, someone, or someTHING else) don't bother replying to it, eventually they should go away.

    Afterwords
If by any chance this guide hasn't helped you, you can email me at love_heartblossoms@hotmail or neomail me by the username _waitforme_. Just remember that one thing I said, 'You have you to know what kind of friend you're looking for'
