Installing brushes on PSP 7
Before reading this tutorial, please be aware that some parts of this tutorial are identical to the one for downloading brushes in PSP 8. The reason? Well, I didn't see a reason in making the same tutorial twice. Now, mind you they aren't identical (else I wouldn't have made 2 now would I?). They are just about doing the same thing on 2 different programs. Its okay. You don't need to understand the reasons. Just think of it this way: The guides are in part the same but have to be different because the programs are different. This tutorial is written for PSP 7. Do not try to adapt it to any of the upper versions -- it won't work properly.
Downloading the brush
Brushes are, by the way, just different fronts for the paintbrush tool (Like in art you use different thick brushes for
different things -- a different one to paint the wall than to draw the eyes on a porcelain figure). However, they are usually
used as a kind of "stencil" or "stamp" effect. They tend to come in "sets" of 3-20 brushes. Anyways...
There are millions (Okay maybe not millions -- but lots) of sites out there that offer brushes. One of them being
Lush Brushes. In this tutorial we will use her brushes and later you can
always go to Google and type in "PSP 7 Brushes" and ta da. Once you have found a set that you like, click on it and a download
box will pop-up. Download it. Remember were you saved it to since we will need to go there later (hmm so far this reminds me
of the Downloading Fonts tutorial)
Extracting & Moving the brushes
Easy.. Go to your "My computer" button (usually under "start" and find your brush files. They will be zipped files
(having a little zipper across the top). Right click and unzip them by pressing Extract all. Just press Yes/Ok/finish on
the extraction wizard. Its really not that hard. Now, here comes the hardest part of the tutorial...
Copy the extracted files (NOT the folder -- the stuff inside the folder!)
Go to the place were your PSP 7 is saved (It should be: C:\Programme\Jasc Software Inc\Paint Shop Pro 7). If you don't know
were, go to My computer and use the search option to search for Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7 and it should turn up in there. Anyways
click on "brushes". Press edit >> Paste.
Using Downloaded Brushes
If needed, go to View >> Toolbars >> Tool Option Palette (make sure its checked). Then press on the brush button and then
look in your tool options area. There you see in the upper left corner 2 tabs. Make sure that the left one is pressed down.
Then go to brush types button (Its the little brush with the arrow on it) and press custom. Your downloaded brushes should now
be displayed. You can start using it now, congrats :D
Afterword
Pretty straight forward.. Written for Internet Explorer though with minor knowledge of your browser it should be easily
adaptable. Post on the Neo-Reality Forums if you encounter any difficulties or to post feedback.
