There are many ways to start a website. In fact, you can even use notepad or microsoft front page to start! However, if you are willing to use webhosts because you don't know HTML, then go on ahead! Just make sure that you know what kind of host you're looking for.

What kind of Host?
There are 2 main kinds of hosts. Just so I don't sound like I'm speaking gibberish, I'll explain in easier terms. The first host is one where the web layout is made for you and you can choose from different ones. Other ones you can choose the color schemes for your site. The second type of web host is where you can customize your site images, color schemes and how it is all arranged! The down side is, you need to know how to do CSS as well as HTML. Some hosts support PHP such as Hostultra and you can put in Cutenews that way! But if you're a beginner, I suggest starting out with the hosts that have pre made layouts for you.

If you want to get big with your site, you can start paying for your site if your parents allow you, that is! Paying for your site can do many things such as a url like .com and .net. You can also allow more space for your site. In other words, you can create more pages! If you want your site to appear on search engines like Google, you may have to pay for it. You don't have to pay every day for your website, you just have to pay once a month. That isn't so bad, right?

A good starter site is Freewebs because you can switch from starter to HTML. You can move onto bravenet but it is a little harder to navigate. The only unforutunate thing with Hostultra thing is that Hostultra makes many ads appear on your page. Neo-Reality used to use Cabspace which isn't a bad host, but sometimes the server is down.

Using your Webhost
Like I said before, there are many feautures on your webhost! On Freewebs, you can put in chatrooms anywhere on your page! If you don't want to sign up for a shoutbox, you can get one on freewebs. Use Bravenet for other feature such as guestbooks, email services, and more! Other ones are very basic and all you do is create pages! Again, make sure you know what you're looking for!
